Municipality Centar Pays for Emergency Accommodation for 34 Socially Vulnerable Families

As part of its continuous care for the most socially vulnerable categories of the population, the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo has been allocating funds from its budget for various types of assistance to persons in need for years. One of the examples is the allocation of financial resources for one-time cash assistance for temporary accommodation of socially vulnerable families residing in the Municipality of Centar. In this year's budget of the Municipality of Centar, 45,000 KM has been allocated for this purpose, which is 10,000 KM more than last year, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Funds from this budget grant are distributed by the municipal mayor by conclusion, upon the proposal of the Service for Work, Social Affairs, Health, Refugees and Displaced Persons, in accordance with the established criteria, and based on submitted requests.

Thus, in 2016, 29,000 KM was spent from the budget of the Municipality of Centar for the accommodation of 34 families in need. Users of this type of assistance, when submitting a request to exercise this right, are obliged to attach a contract or a statement from the owner of the housing unit regarding the sub-tenancy agreement concluded with the applicant. The assistance relates to the payment of accommodation costs in the amount of up to 200 KM per month for families who do not have their housing issue resolved or find themselves temporarily in need of accommodation, and are in a state of social need. The Municipality can finance emergency accommodation in this way for a maximum period of up to six months.

In accordance with the provisions of the Rulebook on the distribution of financial resources for the allocation of one-time cash assistance to persons in need, which was approved by the municipal mayor Dževad Bećirević, the right to emergency accommodation can be exercised by persons who are recipients of permanent financial assistance, care for others and personal disability benefits, persons with special needs and unable to work independently, recipients of child allowance, single parents who receive child allowance and whose children are in regular schooling up to 25 years of age, children without both parents or without parental care whose household income does not exceed 400 KM, mothers who are not in permanent employment, nor are their household members, pensioners, elderly, sick and infirm persons over 65 years of age whose household income does not exceed 400 KM per month...
