Online business under UIO scrutiny: Seized goods worth 250,000 BAM

(Patria) - Authorised officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority (UIO) of Bosnia and Herzegovina have seized goods worth approximately 253,600 convertible marks in the area of the Tuzla Regional Centre, which were intended for sale online.

As announced by the UIO, officers of the Department for Enforcement of Regulations of the Tuzla Regional Centre, specifically the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Offences, conducted an operational action under the code name "LIVE 2".

The action was carried out based on operational-tactical information regarding irregularities in the operations of a legal entity during the import and distribution of goods.

During the control of the movement and origin of goods, officers found a larger quantity of goods of foreign origin for which the legally prescribed documentation did not exist.

This involves a total of 10,975 pieces of various goods, including prescription glasses, sunglasses, sneakers, and other products.

According to the UIO, the goods were intended for online sale, i.e., so-called "live sale".

Value of goods estimated at over 250,000 BAM

The found goods have been temporarily seized, and their value is estimated at approximately 253,600 BAM.

The Indirect Taxation Authority states that legally prescribed measures and actions have been taken against the responsible persons due to the established illegalities.

The UIO once again called on citizens to report any form of illegal trade, tax or customs evasion.

Reports can be submitted via the UIO open line at 080 02 06 07, and the Authority emphasises that all calls are free and completely anonymous.
