Omani Foreign Minister: Iran has agreed to 'never, ever' possess nuclear material needed for a bomb

(Patria) - Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi stated on Friday that Iran has agreed to "never, ever" possess nuclear material capable of producing a bomb, as part of a last-minute diplomatic effort to prevent possible US attacks, Al Arabiya reported.

"This is something that is not in the old agreement that was negotiated during President Obama's term. This is something completely new," said Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi.

In an interview with CBS News after meeting with Vice President J.D. Vance in Washington, Albusaidi said he was confident that a "peace agreement is within reach."

When asked what was new regarding Iranian concessions, the Omani diplomat said: "We are now talking about zero stockpiling" of enriched uranium. When further asked about the current stockpiles of enriched uranium, he said there is an agreement that it will be "mixed to the lowest possible level, to a neutral level, natural level, which means - and converted into fuel, and that fuel will be irreversible."

He also called on President Donald Trump to give diplomacy more time.

The US President separately said he was "not happy with the negotiations" with Tehran. "I am not happy with the negotiations," Trump said. "I say there is no enrichment."
