Storm wind paralyses parts of Croatia, roads and ferry lines closed

Due to storm winds, Croatia closed part of the A1 motorway between Sveti Rok and Posedarje, as well as the Franjo Tuđman Bridge in Dubrovnik on Sunday morning, the Croatian Automobile Club (HAK) announced, as reported by the Patria news agency.

The Adriatic Highway (DC8) between Karlobag and Sveta Marija Magdalena is open only for passenger vehicles.

On the Solin-Klis expressway (DC1), traffic is banned for double-decker buses, vehicles with camping trailers, and motorcycles, while on the Adriatic Highway (DC8) between Senj and Karlobag, there is an additional ban for delivery vehicles and vehicles with covered cargo space.

Due to winter conditions in Lika, traffic is banned for trucks with trailers and tractor-trailers, HAK says, warning drivers to adjust their speed and driving style to road conditions and not to set off without winter equipment, Index reports.

Catamaran lines Ubli-Vela Luka-Hvar-Split, Korčula-Hvar-Split, Jelsa-Bol-Split, and Mali Lošinj-Rijeka are suspended.

Meteoalarm has issued orange warnings for the wider areas of Dubrovnik, Gospić, Knin, and Split. It warns of strong and stormy, possibly hurricane-force northern wind and bora gusts. The average wind speed will exceed 65 kilometres per hour, and the strongest gusts will exceed 95 kilometres per hour, NAP reports.
