District Public Prosecutor's Office on the attacker of Memiševićs: Evidence was not sufficient for custody

(Patria) - The District Public Prosecutor's Office in East Sarajevo (OJT East Sarajevo) announced its position on the attack on the married couple Fadil and Ajša Memišević from the village of Omeragići near Višegrad, as well as on the release of the person considered a suspect in that violence.

As stated by OJT East Sarajevo, immediately upon learning of the committed criminal offense of "Robbery", the duty prosecutor went to the scene and all necessary measures and actions were taken to identify the perpetrator of this act.

"During the operational measures and actions, police officers arrested a person with the initials B.P. (Bojan Prodan, editor's note) on grounds of suspicion that they committed the criminal offense in question. However, the evidence secured up to that point did not establish a well-founded suspicion that the arrested person was the perpetrator of this criminal offense, and consequently, a motion for determining custody was not filed against them because the legal grounds were not met," explained OJT East Sarajevo.

They emphasize that in order to shed light on this case, they are continuously taking all necessary measures and actions together with the members of the Foča Police Department to identify the perpetrator.

"OJT East Sarajevo will continue to inform the public promptly, accurately, and precisely about the measures and actions taken to identify the perpetrator of the criminal offense," it was stated.

The Foča Police Department stated that Prodan remains the main suspect.

"Our measures and actions are still being carried out against him, certain evidence we have will be subject to expert examination, and in the coming period, all actions within our jurisdiction will continue to be taken," said Svetlana Govedarica, spokesperson for the Foča Police Department, for N1.
