SARAJevo, (Patria) - After decades of appeals and demands marked by multi-day protests, fines, and legal battles, domestic agricultural producers in Odžak have finally seen the tender for the allocation of state agricultural land under equal conditions for all producers announced.
The tender was announced two days ago, and in honor of this, members of the agricultural producers' association Žito from Odžak roasted an ox in the city center, symbolically treating citizens as a sign of gratitude for their constant support and celebrating the victory of justice.
Otherwise, the legal battle for arable agricultural land has been ongoing for years. An attempt to allocate land for concession for more than 40 years was stopped a few years ago thanks to an appeal by the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fadil Novalić, to the Constitutional Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and by representatives in the Assembly of Posavina Canton.
- The decades-long battle for state agricultural land in Odžak, marked by mass protests, road blockades, and negotiations, has finally resulted in the announcement of a transparent tender through which domestic companies will be able to use this land for lease under equal conditions. Justice is sometimes slow but always attainable, especially in this time of impending economic crisis. The cultivated fertile land of Odžak by local people, with a limited area to satisfy as many interested producers as possible, guarantees that there will be no food crisis in Odžak – say members of the Žito association.
