Extensive operation concluded: 42 passenger vehicles worth 200,000 KM seized

Upon the conclusion of an extensive operation in the area of the Central Bosnia Canton, officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority temporarily seized 42 passenger motor vehicles that were attempted to be sold as parts on the BiH market, with a total value of 200,000 KM, the ITA announced.

- Field activities were conducted at four locations at auto scrapyards in the area of the Central Bosnia Canton. On that occasion, a temporary seizure was carried out of newer passenger motor vehicles for which, upon entry into the customs territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, legally prescribed import duties (customs and VAT) had not been paid. The owners of the auto scrapyards where the vehicles were found are suspected of importing newer passenger motor vehicles from abroad into Bosnia and Herzegovina with temporary entry into our country.

After that, they removed the license plates and returned them abroad, while selling the vehicles as parts in Bosnia and Herzegovina at auto scrapyards, thus avoiding the payment of import duties. These are newer vehicle models that were already prepared for sale, with a total value of 200,000 KM.

The field operation was carried out by authorized officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority, Department for Enforcement of Regulations - Group for Prevention of Smuggling at the Regional Center Sarajevo, in cooperation with members of the police stations in Kiseljak and Vitez. During the execution of the vehicle control operation, equipment donated to the ITA by the US Government through the EXBS Program was used, and a significant role was played by the previously held "Regional Training for Detecting Stolen Vehicles," in which ITA officials also participated, which was held within the EXBS program - the ITA stated.
