OIC strongly condemns attacks: Israeli military aggression against Palestinians is a war crime

(Patria) - The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemns the ongoing Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip for the sixth consecutive day, in which more than 1,200 people have been killed, thousands of civilians wounded, including women and children, and residential buildings, civilian facilities, infrastructure, hospitals, schools, places of worship and United Nations facilities have been destroyed.

"Add to this the inhumane cuts to water and electricity and the continuous daily deliberate killings in the cities of the West Bank, along with repeated attacks on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. The OIC considers this brutal aggression against the Palestinian people a blatant violation of international and humanitarian law and a war crime," the organisation's statement reads.

It adds that the OIC holds Israel, the occupying power, fully responsible for the consequences of the continuation of this aggression.

Furthermore, the OIC called on the international community to urgently intervene to force Israel, the occupying power, to immediately halt its ongoing attacks on the Palestinian people, and to ensure the opening of humanitarian corridors to facilitate the entry of medicines, food supplies and basic necessities into the Gaza Strip.

The OIC was founded in 1969.

With institutional and political development, the number of member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has grown from 25 founding states to 57 members today.

Bosnia and Herzegovina holds observer status in the OIC. This organisation today brings together states from four continents - Asia, Africa, Europe and South America.
