OHR on state property: Awaiting implementation of BiH Constitutional Court rulings

(Patria) - Following the claim made by political analyst based in the US, Jasmin Mujanović, that High Representative Christian Schmidt will use the Bonn Powers to impose a law granting ownership of state military sites to the RS, the OHR has responded.

"Issues of state and military property remain conditions defined in the 5+2 Agenda. Therefore, the OHR remains engaged in reaching an acceptable and sustainable solution to these issues.

Regarding immovable military property that will serve defence purposes in the future ('perspective military property'), all legal acts necessary to achieve this goal have been adopted, and the locations of this military property must be directly registered as the property of the state of BiH. This is an urgent task for the newly elected authorities in BiH.

As for state property, the implementation of the Constitutional Court's rulings is still pending. Resolving this issue requires the adoption of a law at the state level in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

The OHR continues to closely monitor the development of the situation and plans, in connection with this issue, to engage with representatives of all levels of government after their formation, the OHR statement reads."
