Former JNA Officer: Croatian Spy Čedo Čolović Arrested in Belgrade

Operatives of the Belgrade center of the BIA arrested retired Major Čedo Čolović (57) in Belgrade, suspected of spying for the Croatian service in Serbia, reports the news agency Patria. 

A source from Blic stated that the arrested spy is a retired military officer. According to unofficial information, the suspect is Čedo Čolović (57), a retired major of the RSK born in Drniš, who during the wars of the 1990s was the commander of a brigade that operated in Croatia.

- The suspect accepted an offer from the Croatian intelligence service that if he spied for them in Serbia, no indictment for war crimes would be filed against him in Croatia - says a source from "Blic".

It is not yet known precisely when the Serb with dual citizenship - Serbian and Croatian - began to repay "his debt to the Croats".

The fact is that the BIA had been monitoring him for some time because he was reported as a suspicious person who asks too many questions. According to information from "Blic", the arrested person carried out the spy job, to put it simply, in an extremely amateurish manner, which is why he became suspicious.

- Very direct and intrusive with the questions he directed at fellow military personnel or people from other state structures - says the interlocutor of "Blic".

As a source from security structures told "Blic", this is not the first discovered case of a Croatian spy working for their service because they were blackmailed.
