Textiles and sneakers worth 75,000 KM seized

TUZLA, (Patria) - Authorized officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority, during operational work on the Tuzla – Sarajevo route, at the Rača border crossing and in the area of the Tuzla regional center, seized various textile goods and sports footwear worth 75,000 KM.

UIO officials from the smuggling and offense prevention group from the Tuzla regional center, during operational work on the Tuzla – Sarajevo road, discovered 676 pieces of textile products. These were textiles without any documentation of origin. The operation was carried out in cooperation with officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton.

During control activities at the Rača border crossing, in two separate cases, various textile goods were found and seized that were attempted to be smuggled into BiH. During checks of goods traffic and origin, in two more separate cases in the area of the UIO Tuzla regional center, 1,152 pairs of Adidas and Converse brand sneakers were temporarily seized.

The value of the temporarily seized goods amounts to 75,000 KM, and against the perpetrators of the described illegalities, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Offenses of BiH, requests for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be filed with the competent court.

During the implementation of measures within their jurisdiction, UIO officials used specialized vehicle inspection equipment, which was donated to the Authority by the Embassy of the USA through the EXBS program.
