Pump and hotel confiscated: Šarić and Bjelić sentenced to 13 years in prison each

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, in a retrial, sentenced Emir Šarić and Hasib Bjelić to 13 years in prison each for organized crime in connection with tax evasion and money laundering. Ferida Hasić was sentenced to three years in prison.

At the same time, at the proposal of the KS Prosecutor's Office, property and money worth around 2 million marks were confiscated from them. Among the confiscated assets are the company and the University Hotel “Emiran“, the UMAX GROUP gas station, a larger area of land, several apartments, and a car. After the verdict was pronounced, Šarić and Bjelić had their pre-trial detention extended for nine months or until a new court decision. 

The indictment of the KS Prosecutor's Office accuses them of evading taxes in the amount of over 4 million marks while representing the companies “Special Security Vehicle Trading” from Dubai and the company “Munster LTD” from Seychelles. 

Based on fictitious contracts with the aforementioned companies, money was paid into their foreign currency accounts in several banks. They used it for private purposes, including the purchase of several real estate properties, companies (UMAX GROUP gas station, “Emiran” company and “Emiran” University Hotel, cars, and more. By committing these criminal offenses, they are also accused of laundering money in the amount of over 20 million marks.
