Tobacco and textiles worth over 300,000 KM seized

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority in an operational action codenamed "Sector" and on the Tuzla-Kalesija road seized various smuggled textile and tobacco products worth 304,000 KM.

In the operational action codenamed "Sector", authorized officers of the Group for Prevention of Violations and Smuggling from the UIO regional center in Tuzla temporarily seized items from three physical persons from the RC Tuzla area (Živinice, Banovići) for which there was no legally prescribed documentation. Namely, authorized officers of the Group for Prevention of Smuggling, based on available information about irregularities in the operations of certain business entities, conducted simultaneous checks of the turnover and origin of goods at 3 locations and found 3823 pieces of textile products, a quantity of goods (t-shirts, dresses, tracksuits, trousers) for which there was no legally prescribed documentation.

Authorized officers of the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Violations, Department for Enforcement of Regulations RC Tuzla, in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of TK, Police Station West, on the Tuzla-Kalesija road, searched 2 individuals. On that occasion, they found 3800 packs of cigarettes that were not marked with the legally prescribed UIO stamps, nor was there legally prescribed documentation for them.

The value of the temporarily seized goods in these operational actions is estimated at 304,000.00 KM.

The goods in question were temporarily seized, and legal measures and actions will be taken against five individuals before the competent judicial authorities. During the implementation of measures within their jurisdiction, specialized equipment and vehicles donated to the UIO by the American Embassy through the EXBS program were used.
