(Patria) - A Christmas Mass was held this evening at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Sarajevo, led by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Vrhbosna and Apostolic Administrator of the Military Ordinariate in BiH, Monsignor Tomo Vukšić.
"Every year, Christian believers joyfully prepare to solemnly celebrate the feast of Christmas. It is a holiday that brings and spreads joy, which is why Christians are often joined even by those who do not identify by the Christian name. The ways of these celebrations are often connected with long spiritual traditions, which preserve all these customs from oblivion and require the celebration of Christmas to be repeated. In this series of discovering the meaning of Christmas, believers strive, in addition to remembering the birth of Jesus, to recognize at least one more message of this feast as contemporary and, following Jesus' example, to actualize it," said, among other things, Monsignor Vukšić in his Christmas message.
Before the mass, a concert of Christmas carols was held in front of the cathedral, conducted by artistic director Danijel Žontar.
The ensemble „Art Vivo“ performed a concert of Christmas carols. Numerous passers-by gathered and gladly followed this beautiful musical event in the cathedral square, which is a favorite meeting place for all Sarajevans and is adorned by the statue of Saint Pope John Paul II, who visited this city and Bosnia and Herzegovina and prayed in the Sarajevo Cathedral on April 12, 1997.
The vocal ensemble „Art Vivo“ sang the following songs:
1. Veselje ti navješćujem, folk song
2. Radujte se narodi, folk song
3. Svim na zemlji, folk song
4. Adeste Fideles, Latin carol
5. Santa Lucia, Neapolitan traditional
6. Sarajevo, ljubavi moja, K.Monteno
7. What a wonderful world, Bob Thiele-David Weiss
8. Jingle Bells Rock, J.C.Beal/J.R.Boothe

10. O Christmas Tree/ Tiha noć/We wish You a Merry Christmas
