Musical festival Days of Avdo Smailović held

The first musical festival Days of Avdo Smailović was held in Visoko at the new Multimedia Center Prijeko, reports the Patria News Agency.

The five-day event, named after the great Bosnian composer, professor, and master Avdo Smailović, offered the citizens of Visoko and many guests from surrounding towns a unique artistic experience.

The musical festival began with the concert "Metamorphoses," featuring 20 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Albania.

Bosnian composers Samir Fejzić and Asim Horozić, whose works were also on the program, graced the opening concert with their presence.

On the second day of the festival, a promotion of the book "Sevdalinka - Alchemy of the Soul" by Prof. Dr. Esad Bajtal was held, drawing attention to the original interpretation of sevdalinka as a unique Bosnian cultural treasure. As part of the festival, the concert "Joy of Life - Towards the Arrival of Pope Francis" was held at the Church of St. Bonaventure at the Franciscan Monastery in Visoko, featuring the premiere performance of spiritual songs prepared for the arrival of Pope Francis by the choir of HKD Napredak from Kreševo.

A unique novelty, the inclusion of a music forum within the musical festival, proved to be a great success. On the fourth day of the festival, the forum discussed the role of Avdo Smailović's music and musical art in general in relation to contemporary musical practice.

The festival's conclusion, dedicated to the life and work of Prof. Mr. Avdo Smailović, took the form of a multimedia concert led by pianist Bartolomej Stanković, the artistic director and creator of the festival. It evoked memories and emotions, and students from the Elementary Music School "Avdo Smailović" from Goražde, as well as students from the Elementary Music School "Avdo Smajlović" from Visoko, participated in the concert.

More than 70 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Albania, and the USA attended the festival.
