Fugitive prisoner arrested yesterday in Mostar handed over to Busovača Penitentiary

(Patria) - Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) yesterday (02/04/2025) apprehended an individual in the Mostar area, pursuant to an arrest warrant.

As the public is already aware, the individual offered active resistance during apprehension, threatening to detonate a hand grenade, and during the process of bringing him under control, force was used by a SIPA police officer, resulting in the suspect sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg.

Acting on the case, SIPA police officers, under the order of the duty judge of the Municipal Court in Mostar and with the consent of the duty prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, searched the residential building used by the individual in question. During the search, an automatic rifle with an attached magazine, a pistol, a hand grenade, a rifle grenade, and several black tactical uniforms were discovered and temporarily confiscated.

Concurrently with the aforementioned activities, police officers from SIPA and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton conducted an on-site investigation of the firearms use.

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was also informed of the incident, after which the duty prosecutor ordered that the apprehended individual be handed over to the Prison Police of the Busovača Penitentiary, and that SIPA police officers take measures and actions to collect evidence regarding the commission of the criminal offenses of "Preventing an official from performing an official act" and "Assault on officials in the performance of security, detection or apprehension of perpetrators of criminal offenses".
