Proposal of the TK Prosecutor's Office rejected: Tuzla Municipal Court releases police officer to defend himself from freedom

(Patria) - The Municipal Court in Tuzla rejected the proposal of the TK Prosecutor's Office to order a one-month detention for the arrested police officer T.O., a member of the TK MUP, Patria reports.

The TK Prosecutor's Office yesterday requested a one-month detention for police officer T.O., who was deprived of liberty on suspicion of the criminal offense of "abuse in office." The court ordered measures prohibiting contact with five other police officers who are to be questioned.

The Tuzla Municipal Court made the decision today. Attorney Tatjana Savić confirmed to Patria that T.O. was allowed to defend himself from freedom.

We recall, the police officer was arrested three days after he deprived Mujaga Begić, the husband of TK Prosecutor's Office prosecutor Mirzeta Begić, of liberty for disturbing public order and peace.

Tatjana Savić, attorney for the arrested police officer, who was also awarded in service for exceptional results in his work, with special emphasis on his contribution to protecting the personal and property safety of citizens, said yesterday that the TK Prosecutor's Office flagrantly violated the presumption of innocence, because the Prosecutor's Office informs the public that the prosecutor's husband is an exemplary citizen, and the police officers are violent.

"That is not true if you read the statement of the suspect as well as the statement of the other police officer. If the situation were reversed and the defense had commented on the Prosecutor's Office witness in this way, the Prosecutor's Office would immediately initiate proceedings for influencing a witness and request detention," Savić emphasizes.
