Much is expected from the KS Government: As the richest canton, they are obliged to urgently help entrepreneurs

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - As announced, a meeting will be organized today at the Government of Sarajevo Canton with trade unions and mayors, as well as with representatives of the federal level of government, to find the best solutions for the economy and workers in Sarajevo Canton. 

Yesterday, there was also talk about exemption from profit tax for 2019, but it was concluded that in this specific case, it is the jurisdiction of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The key conclusion reached yesterday is that the Government of Sarajevo Canton will adopt a short-term set of measures to help the economy by March 31 in order to preserve jobs. It will include assistance to legal entities affected by the bans on activities in the fields of tourism, hospitality, catering, passenger transport, trade, and the like, especially those whose predominant activity, according to the classification of activities, is covered by the ban measures.

Much is expected from the Canton of Sarajevo, which is the richest in the Federation, when it comes to helping business entities. The Government of Sarajevo Canton also requested donations from citizens to fight the coronavirus, which caused outrage and ridicule in the public.

Numerous reactions followed, most of which related to the analysis of current budgets and the fact that there is money.

“From the budgets of the canton, city, and six municipalities in Sarajevo Canton, according to the latest data, 2.45 million KM is allocated annually for political parties. No wonder we don't have ventilators, equipment, and medicines. And they are asking for help. Not a chance,” stated Almir Terzić, analyst and journalist.

Otherwise, in the Central Bosnia Canton, 1.4 million KM was allocated from the budgets of the canton and four municipalities, in Tuzla Canton, 935 thousand KM from the budgets of the canton and two municipalities, in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, 825 thousand KM was allocated from the budgets of the canton and three municipalities, and in Una-Sana Canton, 600 thousand KM was allocated from the budgets of the canton and three municipalities.
