
(Patria) - The Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey is organizing a panel titled "From Roots to Horizon: The Story of the Rise of the Turkish Defense Industry" in Ankara on August 29, 2025, during Victory Day (August 30) anniversary week celebrations. The panel will address the qualitative transformation of the Turkish defense industry within the framework of historical continuity, the vision of the National Technology Initiative, and its mission to contribute to regional and global peace.
The panel, organized to discuss Turkey's rise as a powerful actor building its security architecture with domestic, national defense products and projects, will feature opening remarks by the Head of Communications, Prof. Dr. Burhanettin Duran, and the Head of the Defense Industry of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün.
Following the opening remarks, a session will be held to discuss the qualitative transformation Turkey has undergone in the defense industry in recent years, technological breakthroughs, the production ecosystem, and human resources. Academics, representatives of public institutions, the private sector, and national and international media organizations will participate in the panel.
Book "From Roots to Horizon: The Story of the Rise of the Turkish Defense Industry" Published
Among other things, the panel will feature the presentation of the book "From Roots to Horizon: The Story of the Rise of the Turkish Defense Industry," prepared by the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey. The book discusses the mission of the Turkish defense industry to strengthen national security, promote economic development, and contribute to peace diplomacy. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who wrote the book's preface, stated the following:
"We started with a dream of a Turkey that produces its own cannons, builds its own ships, and develops its own drones, missiles, radar systems, satellites, software, and ammunition. This dream has now become a reality. The National Technology Initiative we launched many years ago is not just an industrial revolution, but also a mobilization for independence and the future, building generations that revitalize our nation's self-confidence and look to the future with hope."
