Investigation against Mehmedović Suspended: Countercharges for Illegal Arrests to Follow

SARAJEVO, (Patria)  - Šemsudin Mehmedović, SDA representative in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, announced to journalists today that the investigation against him regarding alleged war crimes has been suspended. He spoke very openly about all the ordeals he had endured since 2005, and we recall he was arrested in 2013 on suspicion of committing war crimes against the Serbian population in the Tešanj area. 

- Various characters competed to see who could utter more ugly and dishonorable epithets about me, the defenders, and the character of our defense. I am proud of my past. The investigation lasted 13 years, and I was deprived of my liberty in an illegal manner. From then until today, the investigation against me was officially ongoing – said Mehmedović.

We recall, Mehmedović was charged with war crimes, bringing in the Serbian population, physical and psychological abuse, and unlawful imprisonment. However, as his lawyer Nermin Vila pointed out, when everything was summed up, Mehmedović was charged for passing through a building and scowling.

Mehmedović also noted that witnesses were paid, and that various locations in Tešanj were checked to find any evidence against him. It was pointed out that prosecutors, police officers, and inspectors working on this case were replaced.

- Today, the forgotten SIPA director Goran Zubac enjoys the political protection of his patron Milorad Dodik. Mario Kapetanović, Dženan Omerhodžić, Faruk Bedrić, Dalibor Milošević, Čerkez, Blažović, and others received promotions because of this case. Whether this is about professionalism or abuse of authority will likely be determined by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina – said Mehmedović.

He said that he will consider with his lawyer the possibility of a countercharge so that those who violated laws and authorities are prosecuted.

Mehmedović emphasized that the defense of Tešanj, as well as the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina, was honorable and dignified, just like the defense of the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
