(Patria) - A drone attack led to the suspension of operations at the Khor Mor gas field, one of the largest gas fields in Iraqi Kurdistan, field engineers said on Wednesday, Reuters reported.
All gas supplies to power plants in the Kurdistan region have been suspended following the attack, the ministries of natural resources and electricity said in a joint statement.
The attack, which hit the field's storage tanks, caused a fire and injured some workers, security sources said.
Footage shared by Kurdish broadcaster Rudaw on social media platform X showed smoke billowing from the site following the drone attack.
Teams from both ministries and Dana Gas of the United Arab Emirates, one of the field's operators,
are currently on site to investigate the incident, the joint statement said.
It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack. This is the second drone to target the field in days, with Iraqi Kurdish security forces opening fire on a drone to prevent it from reaching the site late on Sunday.
