The Civil Protection Service of the Centar Municipality, in cooperation with the Voluntary Fire Brigade ''Bjelave'', organized lectures on fire protection for sixth-grade students of primary schools in the Centar municipality, Patria reports.
The lectures on fire protection were held at the schools “Vladislav Skarić”, “Nafija Sarajlić”, “Hasan Kaimija”, “Isak Samokovlija”, “Safvet-beg Bašagić”, “Mehmed-beg Kapetanović Ljubušak”, and next week a tactical demonstration exercise–fire simulation with evacuation will also be held at the primary school “Alija Nametak”, involving all members of the civil protection staff, emergency medical services, firefighters, 320 students, and 22 teachers.
During the lectures at schools, Haris Aganović, expert associate for fire protection and firefighting in the Civil Protection Service of the Centar Municipality, and Sulejman Vranac, commander of the Voluntary Fire Brigade „Bjelave“, explained to students what can cause a fire, what measures should be taken to prevent a fire, and how to behave if a fire occurs. In doing so, children were particularly cautioned not to extinguish a fire themselves and expose themselves to life-threatening danger, but were exclusively instructed on safe evacuation from spaces or buildings affected by fire or other accidents.
The lecturers also familiarized students with the firefighting equipment used in extinguishing fires.
