SARAJEVO, (Patria) - From September 21 to 25, the international documentary film festival "Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival" will be held in Sarajevo, organized by the television station Al Jazeera Balkans in cooperation with Al Jazeera Media Network and the Al Jazeera Media Institute from Doha. The documentary film "Disappearance" by TV Žurnal will also be screened at the festival.
The documentary film "Disappearance" by Žurnal journalist Davor Obrdalj deals with human dignity, (in)justice, and the search for basic human rights. The film features three young, highly educated individuals from Bosnia and Herzegovina who, despite different backgrounds, are today on the same path. A path that leads them far from the country in which they were born and which has not given them a chance to fulfill themselves as people.
Obrdalj states in a statement to the Patria news agency that the documentary film "Disappearance" is about human dignity and the search for basic human rights.
- Žurnal magazine worked on it for over a year. It clearly shows what future awaits BiH if we do not wake up and condemn the politics of conflict that have led us so far. I will say immodestly - everyone who cares about the future of new generations in this country should watch this film. Our mission is to reach people who have allowed current politics to brainwash them and who have been selling their principles for years for a paid job and false fear, and choosing the same people. The hope is that this film will make people angry, cry, but above all, make them think and debate. Elections are coming soon - says Obrdalj.
The author adds that the film is about young people leaving due to the same problems, regardless of their nationality or religion.
At the international documentary film festival AJB Doc, out of more than 300 submitted films from 30 countries, 23 of the best films will be screened. 15 films have been selected for the competition, five feature films for the non-competitive selection Last Minute Cinema, and three films for the accompanying program AJB Presents.
An international jury of five members will select the best film in the competition selection, and all competitive films will also be in contention for the Al Jazeera Balkans program jury award, which is presented by AJB Program Award. All films screened at the festival are also in the running for the Audience Award.
The members of the international jury are renowned and experienced world experts: Karin Hayes from New York, Ingrid Falck from London, Montaser Marai from Doha, Robert Tomić Zuber from Zagreb, and Zoran Galić from Banja Luka.
TV Žurnal's film "Disappearance" will be screened on Saturday, September 22, at 4 PM in hall 4.
