Obradović: Support for Muslims in New Zealand after the mosque attack

(Patria) - A woman from Mostar who moved to New Zealand with her family three years ago told Radio Free Europe that citizens in that country are in complete shock due to the terrorist attack on mosques that occurred on Friday, „especially because New Zealand was considered a country where such an attack was never expected.“

A thousand kilometers from the attack in Auckland, where Hana Obradović lives, people are closely following what is happening after the attack in Christchurch, where on March 15 an attack was carried out on two mosques, killing 49 people.

„Support marches for Muslims are already being organized, protection around mosques...“, said Obradović.

„My family and I are not afraid that someone will attack us because of our religion or anything else, but the situation is very problematic, because I am an internationalist, so my fear is on a global level. I am more afraid that if this happened in New Zealand, what could then happen in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As we see, in Višegrad, Chetniks and supporters of the Ravna Gora movement gathered again, so these things are somehow connected. On that level, I am afraid. I am not afraid as a Bosnian and Herzegovinian in New Zealand, in Auckland, but I am generally afraid as a citizen of the world, of what will happen next in this world where many of us have children and where many of us have already survived some horrors“, said Obradović.
