(Patria) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the results of the elections in which the AKP lost all major cities, and the CHP won. Besides Istanbul and Ankara, the CHP won in Izmir, Bursa, and Adana.
He said that the Turkish people have said what they want in the elections.
"It sent signals to political leaders. Turkish democracy has proven its maturity. Today's elections are a turning point for us, not an end. Every voter has won, whether they voted for us or not. I thank every voter.”
He said they did not expect such results but that "there is good in everything.”
“We will listen to the will of the people as we have done in the past. The people have had their final say. We will work with the mayors who won the elections. We will self-critique. We have had failures.”
Erdogan says his government has four more years to correct its mistakes.
“We have no elections for the next four years. We will rebuild the areas affected by the earthquake, fix the economy.”
Erdogan says his government will continue to resolutely follow the economic program.
