List of the safest and most dangerous countries for travel this year published

(Patria) - South Sudan, Libya, and Afghanistan are the most dangerous countries in the world for travel in 2024, according to the results of research by International SOS.

This company has published an interactive map showing where travelers are most likely to face security threats based on the risk of political violence, social unrest, violent and petty crime, and, this year, the impact of climate change.

Among the safest places to visit are Greenland, Finland, Norway, Iceland, and Luxembourg, and International SOS says security threats there are insignificant.

In contrast, Libya, South Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, and Iraq are among the most dangerous to visit and are ranked as countries with extreme security risk, writes Index.hr.

In the countries of Central and South America, Venezuela, Honduras, and Haiti, the security risk for travelers is considered high following a constant increase in crime and unrest.

On the other hand, Norway, Finland, and Iceland are marked as countries with a low risk of health and security problems, meaning they are the safest – along with Switzerland and Greenland.

When it comes to health, the countries with the highest risk of contracting medical problems or diseases include the African countries of Niger, Sudan, Libya, the Central African Republic, Somalia, and Sierra Leone.

Yemen is also designated as a high-risk country, as are Iraq, Syria, and North Korea. Low-risk places for diseases are most of those in Europe, Canada, the USA, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and Chile.

This year, for the first time, a category was included that focused on the impact of climate change on countries around the world. In the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy, the risk of climate change is considered low, but in countries such as Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Syria, the risk is very high.

While the risk posed by climate change is low for most European countries, International SOS pointed out how the summer heatwave Cerberus caused devastation on our continent.
