Anniversary of the "Pretis" military operation and the death of hero Safet Hadžić marked

Organized by the Association of Fighters "Patriotic League" Vogošća and the Association of Veterans of the "Bosna" Police Detachment, the anniversary of the military operation to extract weapons from the former "Pretis" special industry factory in Vogošća was marked in front of the factory gate. During this operation, Safet Hadžić, Brigadier General and recipient of the highest wartime recognition "Golden Lily", and his comrades Sead Velić, Nermin Zeljković, Fahrudin Čavčić, Almir Islamović, and Senad Ćirić were killed, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The operation to extract material and technical resources from Pretis for the needs of the defense of BiH and this city was carried out on the night between April 17 and 18, 1992, by members of the Special Unit of the MUP of the Republic of BiH with the help of combined units of the Territorial Defense of BiH, the Green Berets, and self-organized units from the municipalities of Centar and Novi Grad. During the operation, our fighters managed to extract about 1,100 anti-tank missiles and a truckload of mortar shells from the "Pretis" warehouse, material resources that were crucial for the defense of the city and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The operation was led by Kemal Ademović, then Deputy Commander of the Special Unit of the MUP of RBiH. Unfortunately, during the operation, our fighters were spotted by enemy forces who had already occupied positions, and six of our fighters lost their lives, while seven were wounded. The bodies of the fallen were extracted from the "Pretis" factory premises by MUP special forces.

The extracted material and technical resources from the "Pretis" operation were also used in the battles of May 2, 1992, when the city defenders stopped the tanks and transporters of the former JNA that were advancing that day to seize the buildings of the Presidency of RBiH, the Municipality of Centar, and other key institutions of this country.
