SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Delegations of Sarajevo Canton and the Union of Civil War Victims of SC laid flowers today at the massacre site near the DB “Butmir” facility, at the entrance to the tunnel from the Butmir side, commemorating 10 fallen fellow citizens who were killed on this day, 28 years ago.
Due to the shrapnel effect of several shells fired from aggressor positions from the direction of Lukavica on that day, the following were killed: Aziz Fejzić, Zdravko Klačar, Bećir Kovačević, Fahrudin Kurtović, Mensur Smajić, Semir Smajić, Salih Smaka, Rasema Subašić, Vahid Šalaka and Staka Šarenac, and 11 Sarajevans were wounded.
Addressing the attendees at the anniversary commemoration, the representative of the Ministry of Transport of SC Benjamin Osmančević emphasized that it is important to talk about the killed and wounded fellow citizens at this place, not only for the past and present, but especially for the future.
“It is necessary to constantly talk about how something like this would not happen again. Therefore, we must remember the siege of Sarajevo in which its citizens were exposed to great suffering, when they were hungry, thirsty, frozen. But regardless of the past, our future must be built on the equality of all peoples and citizens. We must persevere in the ideas on which Bosnia and Herzegovina can and must survive, and those are the ideas of coexistence, mutual respect and tolerance“, Osmančević said, among other things.
