(Patria) - On the occasion of marking April 6 - Sarajevo Canton Police Day, the Minister of Internal Affairs of KS Admir Katica and Deputy Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević visited memorials and paid tribute to fallen and deceased police officers.
"Honorable women and men in police uniforms offered the first resistance to the aggressor, bravely defending their fellow citizens. We must not forget any of them. It is our obligation, for the sake of new generations, to convey their voice of courage, determination, and patriotism. With the greatest respect, we also remember Mahmut Trako, Elvedin Madešković, Muhidin Pivodić, Davor Vujinović, and Adis Šehović, who gave their lives while performing their honorable police duty in the post-aggression period," said Minister Katica.
Congratulating Police Day, the minister said that it is the obligation of all decision-makers to improve the working conditions of police officers.
"When asked how we see our police today and tomorrow, we have unambiguous answers: as brave, professional, courageous, equipped, modern, ready - the best," said Katica.
"When we chose the police profession, we decided to put ourselves in the service of citizens, to protect their lives, property, and guaranteed freedoms. We are proud of our choice. We have shown, both during the aggression, the reconstruction of our city and homeland, the pandemic, and other challenges, that we are ready to respond to all tasks in the service of protecting peace, legal order, and rule. To all colleagues, both active and those in well-deserved retirement, I extend my congratulations on Sarajevo Canton Police Day, with gratitude for the honorable, professional, and conscientious performance of duty," said Deputy Police Commissioner, Chief Inspector Fatmir Hajdarević.
As part of the marking of Sarajevo Canton Police Day, a demonstration exercise by members of the Special Police Unit, the Intervention Police Unit, and the Operational Support Unit was held at the base of the Police Support Sector.
Delegations from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police Administration laid flowers at the memorials of fallen police officers Davor Vujinović, Adis Šehović, and Muhidin Pivodić, as well as at the graves of Mahmut Trako and Elvedin Madeško.
