US Intelligence: Chinese Fighters in Russian Ranks Are Mercenaries!

(Patria) - More than a hundred Chinese citizens are currently fighting on the Russian side in the war against Ukraine, but according to US intelligence sources, they are mercenaries not connected to the Chinese government. The information was confirmed by two US officials and one former Western intelligence officer, all on condition of anonymity.

According to available data, Chinese fighters in Russia have minimal military training and do not play a significant role in military operations on the ground. A former official familiar with the situation told Reuters that it is estimated that around 200 Chinese citizens are fighting on the Russian side as mercenaries.

Although there is no direct link between the fighters and official Beijing (China), sources claim that Chinese military officers – with the knowledge and approval of the authorities – have visited areas close to the front lines. The purpose of these visits was allegedly to analyze war tactics and gather operational insights. "Their presence in those zones was absolutely approved," said the former intelligence officer.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that 155 Chinese citizens are fighting on the Russian side, but Chinese authorities have sharply rejected these claims, deeming them "irresponsible". Beijing reiterated its earlier stance that China "is not a party to the war" and called for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

At the same time, it is known that numerous foreign volunteers, including US citizens, have been fighting in the ranks of Ukrainian forces since the beginning of the invasion. On the other hand, Russia enjoys the support of some allies – including North Korea, which according to some sources has deployed more than 12,000 of its soldiers as part of its assistance to Moscow.
