Obama delivered an emotional farewell speech: I bet you will reject fear and choose hope

With a broad smile, relaxed on stage, Barack Obama held his last rally in the "for Hillary" campaign in Philadelphia on Monday evening with obvious pleasure, reports Patria.

Ahead of the election of his successor, and less than three months before leaving the White House, where he worked and lived for eight years, the rally on the large lawn of Independence Mall took on special significance.

In front of tens of thousands of people gathered in the cold, the 44th US President was very relaxed. Although he seemed to enjoy his last moments in the spotlight, the soon-to-be "former president," at only 55 years old, allowed himself a bit of nostalgia.

"Eight years ago, I asked all of you to join me on this adventure," he said in front of a giant flag, calling on America to do the same for his former Secretary of State.

After listing all the progress made during his two terms, he defended the person he hopes will succeed him and condemned the "vicious attacks" on the Democratic candidate.

Obama also mentioned a question a journalist asked him this week about whether he still believed in the hope he mentioned in his victory speech almost exactly eight years ago in Chicago.

"The answer is yes, I still believe in hope," replied the soon-to-be former US president.

"In 2008, you gave me a chance. You bet on me. I bet that tomorrow you will reject fear and choose hope," Obama emphasized.

All of Obama's speeches pay tribute to Michelle Obama, who regularly animates the crowds but repeats that she is not eager for a political adventure. The Obamas and Clintons finally waved to the gathered crowd together, writes Index.
