NSRS adopted the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs, which establishes the formal legal conditions for the establishment of a reserve police force, was adopted today in the National Assembly of the BiH entity RS.

Among the most controversial provisions of this adopted Draft is the article which stipulates that for certain needs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RS can engage police officers from other countries and give them false identities.

Although the opposition highlighted this article, their deputies stated that they have no dilemma and that a reserve police force is needed for RS.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of RS, Dragan Lukač, said yesterday that the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs establishes the formal legal conditions for the establishment of a reserve police force.

Lukač emphasized that it is stipulated that the reserve police force will have the same powers as the regular police in accordance with the Law on Police and Internal Affairs, in order to achieve the maximum level of security of persons and property, especially in a period when an increase in the intensity of the migrant crisis is expected.

"The age limit for employing police officers has also been moved with the aim of rejuvenating the staff in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and formal legal conditions have been created for establishing a protection system for the information and communication structure, as well as for electronic communication of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with citizens," Lukač said in the NSRS, explaining this legal solution.

He stressed that the reason for adopting the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs is contained in the need to improve certain legal solutions, as well as to establish new ones for the purpose of preventive action and more efficient application of the law.

Lukač also said today that during the preparation of the draft law, certain "adequate" remarks can be accepted and "included in the law".
