NSRS decides today on the fate of Bosnia and Herzegovina's NATO path?!

SNSD President Milorad Dodik previously announced that the ruling coalition in the BiH entity of Republika Srpska will raise the issue at today's session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska of suspending the previously adopted declaration supporting the path of Republika Srpska, i.e., Bosnia and Herzegovina, towards Euro-Atlantic integration.

Although the aforementioned declaration is not on the agenda of today's NSRS session, it is not excluded that it will be added to the agenda later.

Analysts assess that today's NSRS session can also be interpreted as a key day for the NATO and EU fate of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at least until the General Elections in BiH in 2018.

Political analyst Muharem Cero reminds that the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently in the United States. He believes that Pendeš, on the orders of Dragan Čović, and for the sake of Milorad Dodik, is exerting pressure for the US to agree to a more flexible NATO path for Bosnia and Herzegovina. This more flexible path, according to the idea of HDZ BiH and SNSD, means that military property in the territory of Republika Srpska is not registered to the actual holder, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as stated in the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, but to the BiH entity of Republika Srpska. If the US agrees to such a scenario, Dodik will unblock the NATO path on which BiH is stuck, although ultimately this does not mean that BiH will become a member of NATO.

Analysts believe that today's NSRS session can also reflect the effects of the visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to Bosnia and Herzegovina a few days ago. It has been said for a long time that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia should join NATO together. From RS, they have stated that they will not allow Serbs from BiH to become part of NATO before Serbia does.

If the suspension of the previously adopted declaration by the NSRS supporting BiH's path to Euro-Atlantic integration does not happen today, one can speak of a promising path for BiH towards NATO. If a suspension occurs, the country will face new blackmail not only on the NATO path but also on the EU path.
