New Zealand on second day without new infections, Russia records 10,336 in a single day

(Patria) – The total death toll from the coronavirus pandemic globally has surpassed 250,000, while the number of confirmed infections now stands at 3,643,236.

The US, as the epicenter of the pandemic, records the lowest daily average death toll of 1,015.

The stance of US President Trump and Secretary of State Pompeo that COVID-19 was created in a laboratory in Wuhan, China, and that there is evidence for it, has been called hypothetical by World Health Organization representatives, but they have called on the US government to allow them access to the evidence to verify it.

At the same time, world leaders at the EU summit on Monday confirmed funds of 7.4 billion euros to combat the coronavirus.

Great Britain has launched an application for tracking infected individuals and their contacts to break the chain of infection, while New Zealand has had no new cases of infection for the second day. Their health experts consider this very encouraging but still urge caution so as not to jeopardize the efforts and good results achieved so far.

The situation in Russia is worsening – 10,633 new infections were recorded in a single day, and the total number of 145,268 is believed to be underestimated due to a lack of testing and is significantly higher.

Moscow is the epicenter of the infection, and experts there believe that ultimately about 2% of its citizens could be infected, which is more than 240,000 people.

Russian hospitals are already full and under great pressure, so temporary ones are being set up in sports and shopping centers. There is a shortage of protective equipment, especially outside of Moscow, which is why the infection is spreading among medical workers as well.
