New agreement before the Court, Mujić admitted going to Syria in 2013, but ISIL did not exist then

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Defense of Nedžad Mujić have agreed on a plea deal under which the suspect will admit to participating in the financing of terrorist groups, it was announced before the Court of BiH.

Mujić's lawyer, Senad Dupovac, stated at the hearing for the extension of custody that the agreement has been reached and that the indictment is only awaiting to be filed.

Nedžad Mujić was arrested in mid-last month on suspicion of having stayed in the area of Syria in 2013, where he participated in financing terrorist activities, after which he was ordered into one-month custody.

Prosecutor Nives Kanevčev requested at this hearing that custody be extended for another month, during which time the indictment should be filed.

- There are circumstances that indicate that the suspect could become unavailable if released because he has Austrian citizenship, and that he could repeat the criminal offense and travel to Syria, where he has been on multiple occasions - said the prosecutor.

Dupovac said that his client admits to having stayed in the area of Syria as a "humanitarian worker," and that he gave money to the wounded and other individuals, but requested that custody be replaced with restrictive measures.

- We have agreed on this plea deal and my client has no intention of hiding. He is here, he owns property in Zvornik, and we propose that he be released with all restrictive measures. He just wants this to be over - said Dupovac.

Suspect Mujić also requested to be released from custody.

- When I went there, in 2013, Islamic State did not even exist, nor terrorist activities. That was created only a year later. I went twice for Bajram and gave 50 euros to people there, and may it be halal for them, I am not running away from that - said Mujić.

The Court will make a decision on the extension of custody later, writes BIRN, reports NAP.
