(Patria) - Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Šefik Džaferović will receive the letter of credence from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Thomas Fitschen, on Monday, October 10.
Fitschen submitted copies of his letter of credence to the Head of the Diplomatic Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mirsad Bešić, on September 28.
Fitschen previously served as the German Ambassador to Austria, and earlier worked at the United Nations Mission, the Embassy in Manila, and the UN Mission in Geneva.
He also worked with multilateral organizations, specializing in the fight against organized crime and corruption, and the rule of law.
The arrival of the new German ambassador was delayed by Milorad Dodik's opposition to granting him credentials, which was also addressed by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.
Dodik's request did not receive a two-thirds majority, so the decision of the BiH Presidency came into effect, enabling the arrival of the German diplomat.
