(Patria) - A new round of talks between Russia and the US will be held in Istanbul in the coming days, the Russian news agency TASS reported, citing the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Russian delegation will be led by Aleksandr Darchiev, recently appointed Russian Ambassador to the US, and the American delegation will be headed by Assistant Deputy Secretary of State Sonata Coulter.
Both delegations will consist exclusively of diplomats, and the negotiations will focus on normalizing the operations of diplomatic missions in both countries, according to the Russian ministry, as quoted by TASS.
Russian and American teams also negotiated in Turkey at the end of February in an attempt to restore the normal functioning of their embassies.
Over the past decade, the two countries have mutually expelled diplomats and limited the hiring of new embassy staff.
Russia's war in Ukraine has caused the biggest conflict between Moscow and the West since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, when the two superpowers came close to nuclear war during the Cold War.
