A change of command ceremony for NATO HQ Sarajevo was held today at Camp Butmir. General Giselle M. Wilz handed over her duties to the new commander, Brigadier General Robert M. Huston, reports Patria agency.
The ceremony was also attended by the US Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack, as well as representatives of the BiH Ministry of Defence and BiH Armed Forces.
Wilz emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina faces numerous challenges, but she stressed that she remains a great optimist today, just as she was when she took office 25 months ago, during which she saw that everyone in BiH wants a better future.
- The Armed Forces of BiH continue to be a model for this country, and although they lag in some areas, significant progress and strides have been made. The completion of the Defence Review puts BiH in a position to move forward because the plans have been made and now is the time to start working - she said.
General Robert Huston announced that he will work with members of the Armed Forces to preserve a stable and secure environment that will ensure a stable platform for economic priorities.
- Together, we can ensure peace and improve the prosperity of BiH and the entire region - Huston explained.
