New horror in Spain: Five attackers killed

Shortly after midnight, a new attack occurred on the promenade of the Catalan tourist town of Cambrils, 118 km from Barcelona, where in the afternoon a van that drove into people killed 13 and injured 100 people, reports the Patria agency.

In the new van attack in Spain, seven people were injured, after which the police killed five attackers, Spanish public television RTVE reported.

The van appeared on the promenade, running over passers-by, similar to the attack that occurred a few hours earlier in Barcelona. There were five people in the vehicle. A shootout followed in which the police killed four people and wounded one.

The people from the van had explosive belts, writes the newspaper La Vanguardia. In the footage published by RTVE, the voice of an unknown man can be heard shouting "Sons of bitches, they had explosive belts".

Cambrils is a coastal town with about 33,000 inhabitants in the northeastern province of Catalonia. The police, via the Twitter social network, called on residents not to leave their homes so as "not to be in danger".

ISIL claimed responsibility for the attack in Barcelona, citing Spain's participation in the international coalition against this terrorist organization as the reason.
