The trial of the wartime commander of Srebrenica, Nasir Orić, and his comrade Sabahudin Muhić, accused of alleged war crimes in Srebrenica, continued before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes the news agency Patria.
Today, Taib Delimustafić, who is serving a prison sentence in the Foča Penitentiary, was supposed to testify, but prosecutor Miroslav Janjić told the Court of BiH that they had abandoned his testimony. However, Judge Šaban Maksumić requested an explanation, asking the prosecutor why they had not called another witness in the meantime, but Janjić said:
- We were only definitively sure yesterday, because it is not up to the Prosecutor's Office, but to the witness – Janjić pointed out.
Today, only Jelica Ilić, the wife of Slobodan Ilić, testified, who at one point said, "it is not important whether Slobodan was killed by Mujo, Suljo, Pero or Marko, what is important is that the perpetrator is punished."
Ilić recounted her memories, i.e., what she heard, about the events in Zalazje in July 1992.
- We lived in Srebrenica until April 1992. Then we went to Bratunac with our two sons. Slobodan worked in Bratunac at the Misdemeanor Court until he was mobilized and sent to Zalazje – says Ilić.
Furthermore, Jelica Ilić says that she last saw Slobodan in mid-July, that he was tired and unshaven...
- I had to go out to earn a living, because I had everything and ended up with nothing, and I went to Šabac to pick raspberries. Then on July 12, they called the woman I worked for and said there was a massacre in Zalazje, that's what they told me, and they said they didn't know about Slobodan. When I arrived in Bratunac, Slobodan was really not there. Later, stories circulated that he was taken to Srebrenica. But later, they found him at a garbage dump in Zalazje – Ilić stated.
She could not remember the year the exhumation was carried out, but she said that the funeral for Slobodan Ilić and others found at that dump was on July 12, 2012, and that the exhumation had been carried out in earlier years.
The next hearing will be held on May 31, and three new witnesses for the BiH Prosecutor's Office will testify. We remind you that in the course of the trial so far, which began at the end of January, former members of the RS Army have testified, who in their statements denied Orić's involvement in the crimes.
