Workers of a company dealing in the purchase of secondary raw materials blocked the entrance to Aluminij from Mostar today with tractor units, claiming that this company has not settled its debts for months.
Director of MZ Company from Mostar, Merhid Zlomušica, said that the blockade of Aluminij, which was leased by the Israeli M.T. Abraham last year, will last until their debts amounting to about half a million euros are settled.
"For four months, we have been wandering and looking for what is ours, we made verbal agreements where the Israeli, appointed by our Government, has not respected anything," said Zlomušica. According to him, the biggest problem is procrastination and disrespecting agreements.
Aluminij Industries, established by M.T. Abraham, refused to comment on MZ Company's claims, stating that it "does not succumb to provocations and pressures".
The smelter facilities of Mostar's Aluminij, which now operates as part of the Israeli MT Abraham Group, have been restarted after almost 16 months since the complete cessation of operations of this former giant. To date, they have employed 170 former workers.
Aluminij ceased operations in July 2019 due to debts exceeding 220 million euros. At that time, about 900 workers were employed.
