New US and EU sanctions against Russia will also affect companies in BiH

The US and the European Union are preparing a new set of sanctions against Russia for supporting separatists in eastern Ukraine, BH News Agency Patria has learned from diplomatic sources.

The sanctions to be imposed will significantly reflect on the operations of numerous business entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Otherwise, the sanctions imposed by the US and the European Union against Russia last summer covered almost all major state-owned banks with over 50 percent ownership.

Also, the sanctions imposed at that time included access to the European financial market, an arms embargo, a ban on the export of dual-use goods, sensitive technologies, and the oil sector.

The goal of the sanctions against Russia, introduced so far by the US and the EU, is to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin from providing support to separatists in eastern Ukraine.
