Another play by the ruling coalition SDA-SBB-HDZ BiH, which has once again deceived one of the most vulnerable categories in the Federation – pensioners.
Until two months ago, Federal Prime Minister Fadil Novalic and the relevant Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Vesko Drljaca, announced with great fanfare that full stabilization in pension payments was expected from July 1, reports the Patria news agency.
As they announced at the time, by the 10th of the month, starting from July, all pensions would be paid.
Pensioners rejoiced in advance in vain, because today, July 14, not all June pensions, the payment of which began on July 7, have been paid yet. Since the early morning hours, a large number of pensioners have been waiting in front of banks for what they have honestly earned, and they return home empty-handed every day.
And the fact that nothing has been resolved, and that they don't know how to solve this problem despite constant borrowing from JP BH Post, is evidenced by today's meeting in the FBiH Government, where nothing new could be heard, except that the problem is due to deficits and an increase in the number of pensioners.
As part of ongoing, almost daily, activities to create conditions for pension payments to follow the Agreement on Joint Cooperation with Pensioners, a meeting was held at the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina between representatives of the competent federal ministries (Labor and Social Policy and Finance) and the Prime Minister's Office with members of the Management Board of the Federal Pension and Disability Insurance Institute, headed by President Eugen Cubela, the FBiH Government announced.
The meeting was also attended by the President of the Executive Board of the Association of Pensioners' Associations of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Omer Omerefendic, who was appointed a member of the Management Board of this institute on behalf of this organization.
It was assessed that the inherited deficit of the Institute and the large number of newly registered pensioners still hinder the normal functioning of the pension system in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Therefore, the Management Board was tasked to, in accordance with the amendments to the Statute adopted by the FBiH Parliament, together with the management of the Institute, find a solution to ensure that the deadline for payment of all pensions in accordance with the Agreement with Pensioners is met next month.
It was also stated that the Federal Government is working intensively on the rapid and quality stabilization of the pension system by adopting the necessary legal regulations, and it was emphasized that the priority of this government is the regular payment of pensions, according to the statement.
