The District Court in Doboj will pronounce on May 30 a verdict against former guard at the District Prison in Doboj, Branislav Ninković, charged with war crimes against the civilian population.
After the retrial, the Prosecution in its closing argument requested that the accused be found guilty and punished according to the law, while the Defense proposed dismissal of the charges.
Ninković is charged with participating from May 1992 to March 1993 in the torture and abuse of arrested civilians of non-Serb ethnicity, which resulted in great mental and physical suffering, bodily injury, and death of prisoners.
In early June 2014, he was sentenced to two years in prison, but the Supreme Court of Republika Srpska overturned the verdict and ordered a new trial.
The retrial of Ninković began on December 29, 2015, BIRN reported, as carried by NAP.
