New arrests in RS for war crimes, SIPA in Višegrad and Novo Goražde

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - State Investigation and Protection Agency police officers today arrested two individuals suspected of war crimes.

State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) police officers today arrested two individuals in the areas of Višegrad and Novo Goražde due to grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offenses of "War Crimes Against the Civilian Population", "Organizing a group of people and inciting the commission of the criminal offenses of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes" in connection with the criminal offense of "Individual and Command Responsibility" from the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina during 1992.

After criminal processing at SIPA premises, the arrested individuals will be handed over to the further jurisdiction of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH stated that the investigation in the case relates to war crimes against civilian victims of Bosniak nationality, at the locality of Lozje in the Goražde area.

"The suspects are accused of commanding and participating in the attack on the mentioned village as commanders of VRS units in that area, during which about 30 victims were killed, mostly civilians, including women, children, and elderly people.

The acting prosecutor will question the suspects and then decide on further activities in the case.
