New poll shows Kamala Harris tied with Donald Trump

(Patria) - A new poll confirmed on Sunday that Kamala Harris, who is expected to name her vice president soon, has tied with Donald Trump.

As the November 5 elections rapidly approach, Harris has erased the growing lead Trump had built before President Joe Biden dropped his re-election bid.

According to a CBS News/YouGov poll released Sunday, Harris has a one-point lead over Trump nationwide – compared to Trump’s previous five-point lead over Biden.

A big moment in the presidential race process will be when Harris announces her choice for vice president in a historic bid to become the first female U.S. president. This could happen as early as Sunday or Monday.

Expectations are that Harris will choose a white man to balance the ticket – and likely a moderate Democrat who would help counter Republican attacks on Harris as being too far left.

Three individuals believed to be at the top of the shortlist – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly – were all visiting Harris in Washington on Sunday, the Washington Post reported.

"This is her first major decision that she's making as the chief executive, so it tells you about her thought process," Amy Walter, an elections analyst for the Cook Political Report newsletter, told CBS News.
