NO ZZO still banned from entering the building: More and more scandals, Turković or Ademaj will face consequences

The Health Insurance Institute of Sarajevo Canton, headed by director Samir Turković (SDA), has been in the public spotlight for some time. The scandals burdening the ZZO KS are not trivial, and it seems that the competent prosecutor's office will have work to do, writes the Patria news agency.

We remind you that the Health Insurance Institute of Sarajevo Canton printed the wrong coat of arms on the new electronic health cards, and will have to reprint 20,000 health booklets. Before this scandal, the ZZO's Management Board increased the basic salary of director Samir Turković by an incredible 30 percent. According to audit data published in mid-last year, Turković received 4,718 marks each month, and with this increase, his personal income will increase by another 1,413 KM, totaling 6,131 KM!

On top of all this, the Supervisory Board of the Health Insurance Institute of Sarajevo Canton (ZZO KS) is still denied entry into the ZZO building.

- We hold regular sessions of the Supervisory Board, but outside the headquarters. We have informed the Government, i.e., the Ministry, and now we will submit a request to the Assembly, and we will submit a letter to the Prosecutor's Office stating that we are denied entry. That is what we can do. The Minister, i.e., the Management Board, was informed at the beginning of December, and at the beginning of January, the Government, headed by Elmedin Konaković, was informed. No one is reacting, no one has called us - says Edin Bandić, President of the Supervisory Board of ZZO KS, for Patria.

He pointed out that they partially have information that the public is buzzing about, but...

- Until we enter the institution and see the decisions, who made them and on the basis of which rulebook, we absolutely cannot comment on that topic. We are the body that controls financial operations. Our reports, which have been prepared over the last three years and have resulted in dismissals at various levels, from management boards to directors, may be the reason why we are not allowed entry into the Institute - added Bandić.

The President of the Supervisory Board warns that due to this situation, either Zilha Ademaj, the Minister of Health, will have to leave, or the director or the entire Management Board will have to step down.

- All of this is under the patronage of the minister, who protects the director. We are the only body that does not listen to the Ministry. We work as the law prescribes. We will submit a request; if they allow us entry, fine; if not, we will prepare a report for the Canton Assembly with one sentence stating that we are denied entry, because the Assembly is the owner. If they also ignore it, there are people in the Prosecutor's Office who should react ex officio, because we are, after all, a legitimate and lawful body, and someone is preventing us from entering - said Bandić.

The members of the Supervisory Board were elected through a competition and by a decision of the Government of Sarajevo Canton for a four-year term, and for three and a half years they have been working smoothly in accordance with the signed contract with ZZO KS, the law, and the statute of ZZO KS.

Based on regular and extraordinary reports of the Supervisory Board's work on the operations of ZZO KS, the director, and the Management Board over the past three years, the Government of Sarajevo Canton has dismissed three directors and several Management Boards of the Institute.

The Supervisory Board has just under half a year of its mandate left.
