German Defence Minister: We must be capable of war by 2029

(Patria) - Germany must be capable of war by 2029, said German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius.

Addressing MPs during a parliamentary session, Pistorius said that Russia is preparing for another conflict.

- Russia continues to arm itself. One should not believe that Putin will stop at Ukraine's borders if he goes too far - Pistorius said.

He warned that Russia poses a threat to Georgia, Moldova and NATO, and therefore, as he stated, military support for Ukraine must continue.

Pistorius called on MPs to support the government's efforts towards Ukraine and its plan to significantly increase defence spending in the coming years.

- We must not neglect our own defence and operational readiness. We must be ready for war by 2029, we must ensure a deterrence policy to prevent the worst from happening - Pistorius added.
