Germany: 12 injured in suicide bomber explosion

An explosion occurred in the German city of Ansbach last night, killing one person and injuring 12. The explosion was caused by a 27-year-old Syrian, German media report, according to the BH news agency Patria.

The Minister of the Interior of the German state of Bavaria, Joachim Herrmann, announced today that, due to recent terrorist attacks, he will insist on changing laws at the federal level, including the Criminal Code and issues of foreigners' residence.

- We must clearly tell others that everyone must accept the legal order in the country. If someone does not respect the legal order, they must be expelled from the country for lesser offenses than before, Herrmann emphasized.

According to Reuters, citing security sources, the attacker's asylum request in Germany was rejected, which is a possible motive for the attack. He had been living in Germany for two years, and his asylum request was rejected last year.

According to the German newspaper Bild, the explosion occurred during the "Ansbach Open" festival.
