Germany and Russia on BiH, Common Interest in the Balkans

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock also discussed the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the Russian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lavrov's message that the Peace Implementation Council (PIC) should decide by consensus was highlighted.

"Germany and Russia have a common interest in the situation in the Balkans developing according to a positive scenario. We, like Germany, are members of the PIC in accordance with the agreement concluded in Dayton. We are interested in restoring the practice of consensus in the work of this important mechanism," Lavrov said during a meeting with Baerbock in Russia.

Also in Russia, Lavrov spoke with Croatian Foreign Minister Goran Grlić Radman the day before. On that occasion, he stated that they "see discrimination against Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina".

Minister Baerbock is among those who insist that the European Union should sanction politicians responsible for the crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Foreign media report that she emphasized that her country will not deviate from fundamental values in relations with Russia.
